###  **Save Backup files**

1. Before installing the update, run **YuleLog 2023** or your most recent version of the software 
2. At the [**Main Menu**](https://help.yulelog.com/hallmark/main-menu), click on the **Utilities** button. 
3. Click on the **Save Backup Files** button This will save a copy of your ornaments in a file called **backup.fmp12**. It will be located in your **YuleLog 2023** folder 
4. Quit the YuleLog program
5. Install the new version using the following instructions:

### **Installing YuleLog**

1. Insert the **YuleLog 2024 DVD** into your computer 
2. Open the Finder 
3. Double Click on the **YuleLog 2024 DVD** 
4. Open the **Mac** folder 
5. Open **YuleLog2024(Hallmark).dmg** 
6. After verification, drag the **YuleLog ornament icon** to the **Applications** folder in the window that comes up 
7. After the program is done copying, open it from your **Applications** folder.
8. You will be presented with a form to fill out. This **Name and Address Form** should be filled out with the information you want to appear on any reports you generate. After completing this form, click on the **Continue** button to get to the opening screen.
9.  When prompted, click the button labeled **UPDATING FROM OLDER VERSION.**
10. Drag the **backup.fmp12** file you saved from **YuleLog 2023** to the container field indicated by the on-screen instructions.
11. Click the **Import Backup File** button. YuleLog will import the records from your backup file.
12. Click the **OK** button on the dialog box that comes up to view your collection.
13. After you are sure your collection has been restored, and **YuleLog 2024** has been installed successfully, you can **delete** the previous version of YuleLog to save space on your hard drive.
